so i want a new phone, i am looking at the 9860 because i prefer the touchscreen keyboard, but i also saw the 9900 and one of my friend is using it and loves it. my question is part from the keyboard what is difference? the price is around $100 with the 9900 being more expensive, so why this big difference if the specs are the same? Thanks
I don't particularly love BBOS7 on an all-touch device but both are fine choices.

Why do you prefer an on-screen keyboard?
i am not sure. my first phone was the 9550 (which i just sold) and i liked typing on it in the landscape mode. i have seen the physical keyboards and they seem a bit small
spend a bit of time with each phone and make your decision. spec are pretty much the same for both so it's just a matter of personal preference.
If you can't decide between physical keyboard or onscreen keyboard try the 9810 :eek:
Basically the difference between all 3 (9860, 9810, 9900) is the harware because the insides are pretty much the same except the 9900 has NFC and missing autofocus for the camera. If want an all touch screen phone with a virtual keyboard go 9860, candy bar form factor with touch screen and great keyboard go for the 9900, if u can't decide and want both the big touch screen and the physical keyboard then go 9810. Personally I went 9810 because I'm a big fan of big touch screen phones and the bb's physical keyboard so I went 9810 and I'm very happy with it till this day. Hope this helps and good luck :)
does the 9810 have a touch screen keyboard too? Also i am a bit worried that the sliding mechanism might fail on the 9810 (since i am buying from ebay fixing might be problematic). Also worried i might accidentally break it into 2
I started with a BlackBerry 9530 and then went to the 9550. When I had the storms I loved them and was very happy with them. Then I got a 9650 and I realized how much I was missing out on. Since then I have owned every BlackBerry vzw has launched all the way up to the new 9370.
In my opinon the 9850 is just like a storm. Its really nice as long as your not used to using the physical keyboard.
The current BlackBerry os is clearly made for trackpad and keyboard. When you have a full touch you lose the effectiveness of keyboard shortcuts.
I think you should at least try the Bold for a while. Or consider getting the 9810 so you can have a combo of the two.
Yes the 9810 has a virtual keyboard. I had a 9800 before I got my Bold and I found both the physical and virtual keyboard to leave something to be desired. Jack of all trades phones, those torch sliders. However, the sliding mechanism never once failed on my 9800.
easy, the 9860 is almost pure junk and the 9900 is an amazing phone.
really, i had a 9860 for a week and it has the most frustrating on screen keyboard i have ever used. maybe now with the os7.1 upgrade irs better but i had just switched from an iphone and i couldnt stand it.
now i have a torch 9810 abd its great for a touch screen phone user. enough screen to be usefull for apps and all and a great keyboard as well. try it out as well.
and another question: I am looking at a 9860 from AT&T unlocked, would it work fine with all the canadian carriers? i use fido, but it should also work with bell rogers telus correct?
yup no worries, it will work on them all.
