It's been noted by me, and many of my contacts, that there was a massive pull by RIM servers from approximately 8pm-12am yesterday. Now I could speculate on what it means, but I'll leave that to everyone who comments.

I'd like to see just how widespread an area was affected.

I'm in Ottawa, Canada, and I just checked my Telus data usage, and I didn't see anything unusual, so maybe this is something just on the US BIS.....

I don't get it, but I streamed Sirius/XM most of the night and nothing unusual happened. Verizon and I'm in eastern Arkansas.

RIM must have updated some servers. I'd noticed lag every time I'd have incoming data for at least a week. After last night's fiasco, everything is running smooth as glass.

Can't explain why some who were on saw nothing, while others did. It does appear to have been sprinkled around the US. Anyone else notice a distinct improvement today?

If you were using your phone at the time, you couldn't have missed it if affected. The data arrows were constantly zinging, battery drain up the ying-yang, severe lag trying to do anything. If you weren't using your BlackBerry at the time, and had it charging, you would most likely never have a clue it happened.

Ok, I did notice occasional freezes on my device, and lots of arrows. No excessive battery drain, though.

Ha Ha I'm in Central Georgia USA. I've noticed some arrows zipping when I wasn't using data but I didn't think too much about it.

I experienced it around 5 AM this morning. The arrows were going constantly. During that time my connection rapidly fluctuated between 3G, EDGE, edge and GSM. It seemed to go back to normal late morning/early afternoon.

Well it turns out that AT&T were doing some improvements to their towers, so I don't think my connection issues had to do with BES.
Anyways, nice to see some improvements being done for us.

I was talking with a friend last night and my data service kept going to 1X, which was a very rare scenario. Tried refreshing my phone's receiver, but it did not work. However, all is now normal.

Fortunately, from seeing this thread, its great to see it was due to RIM's network upgrade/maintenance.
