I have 4 days left on my 30 day trial with Verizon. Everyone seems excited about the curve. Is there any reason to exchange my 8130 pearl for the Curve?

Are you happy with the suretype, feel, and size of the pearl?
If you like it, you might be happy with it.
If you want a qwerty keyboard, and want a bigger screen, go with the curve.
Assuming its a 8330, they have pretty much the same features..
The curve is much easier to type with then the pearl. The size of the pearl is really convenient. If I had the option to switch I think I would stay with the pearl.

Do you like your Pearl?

I love my pearl but the hype is just making me want it.
How about both!

I'm in the same boat you're in. I'm going with the Curve . . . larger screen size, full QWERTY keyboard, better feel of keys! That's why I'm moving on up!
really is it that hard to learn suretype.NOOO
if you can type on a regular numeric keypad than you can definitely do it on a suretype keypad.
sure type is more convient than QWERTY and NUMERIC
suretype is just a compact QWERTY.
i text really fast due to suretype i get speed compliments all the time!
The suretype really isn't the thing that what makes the Pearl hard to type on, it's the size of the buttons. I hit 2 buttons way too frequently, on typing and dialing. They are just too small. And maybe if they recessed the keys, it wouldn't be as bad, like that new Kickstart. And that means a lot coming from me, my hands/fingers are on the small/skinny side. There'll be people who use my phone and then need me to dial the number.
Yes, the 8330 is a far better bb then the 81xx's heck it's better then the rest of the 83xx's. I love my Curve 8310 but if I were you I would get the 8330 ASAP.
Umm... no!
The Pearl is awesome. I can tell you it's a great phone. Do you want a bigger screen? Do you want QWERTY? Typing should be easier on the Pearl as the buttons are a lot bigger. I have both and use both daily and rather type on my Pearl. The size of the Pearl is a big plus for me as well. For everything else, like web browsing or media, I love the Curve.
It's all on you.
Exactly. The choice is up to you & what you need in your phone.
I have the Curve & I enjoy the full Qwerty since it's great for work. 80% of my emails are answered on my BB so the Curve was my obvious choice - especially since I came from a Treo. Both have cameras - which is an added plus for those candid moments - mixes work & play!
Both are great choices so you're good either way - just have to decide which way to go.
I'm cool with the suretype. The bigger screen size would be nice, but the pearl can fit in my pocket. There doesn't seem to be much difference. I'll stick with the Pearl. Thanks for the input.
Good choice - I had dust in my Pearl and took it in for an exchange, and was offered the Curve if I wanted it, but after handling the demo I wasn't impressed with the keyboard. I found it harder to type with than the Pearl, I love the Suretype (not sure why it gets such a bad rap in the forums).
I always have a few full length movies on my 8310/8820 for when I travel and I could never watch a movie on the little Pearl screen. I also started with a Pearl last Sept and quickly exchanged it after 2 weeks of use.
See, maybe thats part of why the Curve wasn't as special for the larger screen - I have an iPod Touch, so if I want to watch a movie on something I'll load it on that.
I like both so its all up to you, but if I had to choose it would be the curve.
I'm in the same boat. I have a Pearl and am upgrading to the Curve. While I do love the SureType, the size of the screen is what is really grabbing my attention. The Curve is literally less than a 1/2 inch wider than the Pearl and slightly shorter in height. If 1/2 inch in size means that much, than stick with the Pearl. Does anyone know if a form of SureType is available on the Curve? I do enjoy when it finishes words for you, but a QWERTY keyboard will also be nice for those slang terms that you want to fire off in a text message or going to a specific webpage that doesn't use "normal" words. I can't tell you how many times I've had to constantly backspace using SureType to get the right web address! I think the Curve wins out, but either phone is fantastic! Way better than any PDA I've ever owned!
Suretype isnt available on the curve... there isnt any way it would work with the full qwerty keyboard.
basically the only main difference between the pearl and the curve is the qwerty keyboard. so youve got to decide if thats what you want. obviously also the curve is larger and has more screen real estate, but really it does nothing that the pearl cant do. i want the curve, too, but i see no reason to spend the money to upgrade from my pearl.. especially since suretype is how i roll!!!
I can see your point with the SureType. But with my old Treo, it finished words as you typed...similar to SureType. No hope for this with the Curve? Does anyone else have the issues I have with typing wed addresses and such? that alone is reason to want a full qwerty again. I understand that every phone has it's highs and lows, I guess you just need to weigh those out!
