With so much BB news I am feeling nostalgic for the days of my 9700 (why or why did I sell it?). I am looking to trade my Lumia 900 for a 9700 or 9780. I've been getting little to no interest (guess I shouldn't be all that surprised). However T-Mobile has a Curve 9315 for no money down and $7 a month on top of the monthly service (which would be less than I pay on AT&T). I've never owned a curve so I am wondering what the CB community has to say. Should I go with the newer BBOS7 device or keep plugging away for a 9700/9780? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Trying to be realistic about my trade options. I just might have to give up on doing a 1:1 exchange. I have a few too many smartphones, and I am looking to not add to the collection. However, I it seems like I am going to have to spend the money to get a BB.

The battery life stinks on the 99xx series whereas the 9700 has the best battery life of any smartphone i've used.

Honestly if you are going to get a legacy bb just get the best. The 9900. You can probably get a really nice used but like new one for 200$

How does the camera stack up between the 9700 and 9900? I remember the 9700 took only so-so photos back in the day. I am sure they are quite crappy by today's standards. Is the 9900 remarkably different when compared to the 9700?

    The 9900 isn't good either. I think it's 5mp, no auto focus

Ah that's right, I remember the EDOF bruhaha on the forums. That keyboard looks amazing. But if I am going to be paying $200 for a 9900, I could just go with a Q10 on AT&T. It is about the same price. Ugh... This whole process would be so much easier if somebody wanted my Lumia 900.

I want a phone I love and one that allows me to communicate. I love my Nokia N8 for a variety of reasons, but the keyboard is so small and the autocorrect is terrible. I have to type so slow to avoid errors. It is so annoying. For all the praise the Z10 and Q10 get, it doesn't look like the BB phone I know and love.

9900. Keyboard is massive, great for communicating. Don't expect many apps as you should know.

What is really unfortunate is that SiriusXM had an app for the legacy BB devices. Now they have pulled it and only support Android and iOS. I've lived without a SiriusXM app for a while now, but it feels wrong since I pay for the service every month. Other than that I think I am covered.

I say take the plunge if you want legacy BB. I wouldn't spend 600$+ on a new one though.

Q5 would be great if you want a basic communicator phone for a great price. 350 from Koodo or virgin mobile in Canada. Q10 is going to have better battery life, better screen and camera. The cpu difference is minor between the 5 and 10. Z10 can be found for cheap and has a great keyboard. My wife loves her q10 but I find that the screen is to small for Web browsing

Go for the 9700, its cheap compared to 9900 and had 90% features of 9900. I use an IP5 and planning to get a 9700 as my second phone.
I am using touch screens for past 4 years but still cant type as fast as I used to on my old 9700. Nowadays I spend more time correcting my "autocorrect" than typing what I want to type.. But that is just me.. the world has moved on to touch screen keyboards and is comfortable for most of them. As mentioned before the battery rocks on 9700 and its the best I have seen on any phone I have used (Nokia E71 came close).

OP anyone that tells you to get a 97** over a 99** Cleary has no experience with the 99**. Or they have small hands. The 9** is the top of the line, and most cherished series. This is why they modeled the Q10 after it. On a used market the cost difference will be next to nothing and the experience is much better. I don't think the 9700 has H+ signal? I could be wrong

Since nobody mentioned the Curve 9315 and so many people were vocal about the 9900, I will be meeting somebody after work to pick up a 9900. I even got a pretty good deal on it. Can't wait.

My Bold 9780 broke and TMobile offered me a Curve 9315 basically for free ($7/month plus cheaper contract).
Looking at the specs online they seem fairly similar with the curve being an upgrade to OS7. My only issue is that the Curve has a cheaper camera (3.2 instead of 5 megapixesl) and a smaller resolution. I really liked my Bold and would like something similar. Does anyone here have experience with both who can compare the Bold 9780 to the Curve 9315?
I mostly use my phone for text messaging, with a little bit of email and web browsing (with the Bold I did most of my email in Opera Mini)
