    Hi all,

I am trying to connect a 9700 to my home wifi network. But the 9700 gives me an error when connecting to the router stating "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have tried all the means for fixing this problem like restarting the 9700 by removing the battery, restarting the wifi router, and even restoring the wifi router to the factory default. I have also disabled the security in the wifi but with no use.

I am pretty sure that it is not a DHCP problem as the DHCP status is ok in the wifi diagnostics tool.

Also I have read all the articles in this forum related to the wifi problem but non of the solutions there worked for me.

Any hints or help for this problem?

    Device: Bold 9700
    OS: 5.0.0.423

    WiFi router: Speedtouch
    DHCP: enabled
    UPnP: enabled
    security: WPA-PSK

Maybe a dumb question, but since you are using wpa-psk, did you actually enter and save your psk string on you bb?

In the diagnostic tool is there a green check mark next to "Association" and "Authentication"; is there anything listed for "Local IP Address" and "Gateway Address"?
