Does your laptop use an N router? The difference is I believe N is quicker vs G and B.

I use a Belkin 54 G plus router at home. It works well with my 8900, my ipod touch, my sister's 9700, my laptop and brother's laptop. I got the router about two years ago from walmart for $50. Good luck.
