After just 1 weeks use, I returned my Tour to Verizon and went back to my ol' Pearl. The bluetooth issue drove me nuts!!! I need to be able to talk on my phone and work on the computer simultaneously and I got tired of people telling me they couldn't hear me with my original Jawbone and Plantronics 925 on the Tour.

To me, it is disappointing that this is Blackberry's second initial release mishap. The first one was with the Storm and the issues surrounding it when it was released and now it is the Tour. One would think that a multimillion dollar company would have better research and development/quality assurance departments. However, as soon as the bluetooth issue is fixed, I will have a Tour again.

    Toyota/Lexus Owners.

I have found access to a hidden diagnostic menu. Within the menu, there is a bluetooth submenu, it has outgoing voice volume. You can increase it from 0 (default) to 5, the highest option. I must say it has without a doubt helped with my situation. PM for details.
Can you pm me also with this menu. I'm new and cannot pm you. I have an 08 Tundra.
    Thanks

In reviewing this thread, the common issue (all those with bluetooth volume issues) seems to be Toyota/Lexus. I too own a Lexus and am having these issues. When I went to the dealership and asked if they knew how to adjust the mic, they told that thier specialist was out and did not know how to do thsi themselves.

Beau could you please send the information on how to access the diagnostic menu so that I too can have this fixed. Thanks...

My Tour works pretty terribly in my Acura TL '09. (Acura is part of Honda).

Also many are saying bluetooth headsets don't work well either, I haven't tested that extensively.

If anyone knows of a similar diagnostic menu for Hondas/Acuras, please post it!

A few things. My Lexus is an 08, so I hope this works for most recent years.

I didn't want to post this in the forums, most people don't know how to load a hybrid OS on their phone(no offense), I didn't want information on accessing hidden menu's open to everyone. Its only to be used by technicians in the first place, so please, use this ONLY if you're comfortable and at your own risk..

Visit the link below, I will type out the steps for you as well, best thing to do is just print out my steps below, watch the video and then go to ur car.

When your car is on, or with it turned to the position before on, push the display button.

Then, touch/tap the top left (under the menu bar) and bottom left (above the black bar) the video shows this well - where to tap

Repeat the taping slowly from top then bottom, top then bottom, top then bottom, until you see a menu (white and green)

"System Check Mode" will show up.

Press the Menu in the top right

    Press Bluetooth TEL Check

    Press Handsfree Voice Quality Set

Tap the up arrow for Send Voice Level, I have it to 5

When done, back out until Diagnosis Menu.

Turn car off and remove key.

Let me know if this helps!!

I tried the approach suggested by Beau79 to bring up the Lexus System menu and it did the trick for me. Thanks a lot, Beau79!!! Really appreciate your timely post.

After I brought up the System Menu as explained by Beau79, and set the outgoing sound volume to 5, all the persons I called via Lexus BT connection could hear me just fine. Previously they *all* complained that I was whispering!

I have a 2008 Lexus LS460 and I just bought a BB Tour a few days ago (first BB, had a Moto Q before, which worked fine with the car), and the low outgoing sound volume was driving me nuts... it was a potential deal breaker! I was about to go and return it and get some other phone... the Storm and HTC Ozone were what I was considering as alternatives... anyway, not needed any more, thanks to Beau79's post re: how to change the outgoing voice volume via bluetooth on a Lexus. I am sure glad I did a last browse of Crackberry before I went out to the Verizon store!

When i play music on my tour using my s9 stero headset, it just keeps skipping songs. It starts playing for like a second, and then to the next song, and keeps doing that. Any help I appreciate it.

Thanks Beau79! I was able to get this to work in my 08 Tundra. It has helped me out for now. I believe it is a temporary fix until BB comes out with something for the Tour.

So do we have a handle on whether or not this is phone software or hardware related or if is specific to everyone's car/ BT ear piece?

I have a motorola BT earpiece that worked with my motorola phone but not with the Tour. I am using the headphones with mic that comes with the Tour for handsfree driving but would like a functional BT earpiece.

Do I try another ear piece (Jabra or Plantronics) or await some nebulous software update?

    Thx.

I'd like to know this, too. I have a 3 year old Plantronics Voyager BT that I've used with 3 other phones without issue. With the Tour, nobody can hear me unless I yell into it. About to go drop another hundred on the lastest, greatest Plantronics, but not sure that will make any difference. My guess is that it'll be about the same with any BT headset until RIM release an OS update.

The new BB is not compatible with the car. I had a new TCU module put in the car, but BMW sayz since it is not an "approved" device I have to live with the radio coming on/off, contacts won't download.

The sad part is it worked fine for a week....then ptttttt

    I have 2 blackberry tour.

Upgraded to Jawbone 2 bluetooth headset and it works fine (I have to upgrade from Motorola H700 since people had real problem hearing me)
Other Blackberry is connected to Motorola H710 and it works fine.
Still waiting for Bluetooth fix - probably by OS 5.0

I have a Motorola T305 handsfree BT "speakerphone" and people can't hear a dang thing on it, so I don't think it's related to Toyota/Lexus only... it's the general outgoing voice volume on the Tour. If you go to OPTIONS>STATUS and type the word TEST, you can test your BT audio - when you do the test, check your speaker output and you can hear your own voice - mine is inaudible (completely quiet) when I do the "talking" test.

HaulineSS - We are in the same boat, only I went through 2 Tours before being driven nuts.

Does anyone have any inside information as to whether VZW, therefore, RIM, has actually acknowledged yet that a BT problem actually exists with the Tour? After all, admitting that you have a problem, is the first step towards a cure, right? Their constant denial will never get them on the wagon, but will **** off a lot of otherwise committed contract renewals, mine included.

It HAS to be on the phone software

I drive an 09 Fusion with SYNC. The Storm and Curve I had prior worked GREAT, but the Tour has everyone telling me I sound like Im a mile from the phone.
I have tried it both from initiating the call, as well as receiving. Both consistently register low volume.
My fiance has a Fusion and a Tour as well. Hers however, Works fine in either car.
    I am baffled.

I am having this same type of problem with my tour. When I connect to my bluetooth enabled Garmin GPS people can barely hear me. It worked fine with my Pearl. I just talked with a Verizon tech and he said that Blackberry is running test on the problem and that when they get a solution I will have a software update icon pop-up on my home screen. Sounds good to me, other than this minor issue my Tour rocks!!!

Well, it's about time. The VZW tech I spoke to was totally uncooperative (and I was polite, which made it more annoying). He told me to take my car back to the dealership after stating I've used my car's bluetooth with different phones over the course of two years and have no problems with: three different Pearls (one was an insurance replacement), Pearl Flip, and an old Samsung phone. I returned the Tour the next day since being able to use the phone in the car is important.

I'll re-purchase the Tour when this issue is fixed.

I believe the green dot Tours only address hardware issues, not software. The consensus is the bluetooth issue is software and would most likely require an OS update. Since I have yet to hear about an official update on CB forums, I assume nothing is out yet.
