Before I spend $200 on this phone can someone clarify if I can use Blackberry Maps and other 3rd party software on this phone or has it been locked down by ATT?

Yes you can use blackberry maps, I just used it this morning. I also use GPSed and Google Maps with no problems. Jump in!

Right now, out of the box, you cannot use it. I read up on it, and found that if you install the latest beta OS, .168, you can then load and use BB maps.

I did this, and after less than 2 minutes using it, I took it back off and went with Google maps. Just like it better. Google has the satellite views and seems to operate just as fast as BB maps. Plus the street views are fun.

So don't make BB maps a dealbreaker, you might like (FREE) Google maps better.
