I am not looking to tether the internet connection but rather use my Blackberry as an old fashion modem - for example to connect to old dial-up Bulletin Board Sistems or use with a program on the computer to send a fax to an actual fax machine. Is this at all possible using the BB's modem?

Most of the articles I find are related to tethering, which is completely different from what I need. I was able to get a terminal program to dial-out but it never starts the "handshake" process and eventually the remote modem hands up.

    Thanks in advance!

Certainly seems plausible but I have no idea.

Unless the carrier is currently offering a CSD feature then no. Most if not all carriers have that service any longer.

I don't think there is an analog modem in the BB.
