Wondering if anyone can help, I am looking to find some old bbm messages on my phone but it only let's me look back just over 30 days. Any ideas if they are saved to the phone or sd card??

Did you check this official documentation? KB33560-Email messages deleted from the BlackBerry 10 smartphone are not moved to a Trash or Deleted Items folder and instead are permanently removed
