I have a 8538 and I would like to view PDF's on it without paying for a reader. I am a pilot and would like to look at airport diagrams and approach plaits.

Yes, but you will have to attach the PDF file to an email to yourself.
BlackBerry Attachment Viewer will let you view PDF files. Unfortunatly, you can not used it with saved documents.
MobiPocket Reader is a Free application, it will allow you to view saved documents.
