    Just wondering, this could accomplish OHA rules as the Runtime could be relased as a separate, indipendent app.

    Also, the Android developers community could get more interest in BlackBerry10, making it grow...

    Almost all of the runtime is already open source. I think BB should publish the additional bits they've added, but they aren't obligated to do so.

    But how would this increase developer interest?

    They can't. BB10 is built on top of QNX, and QNX will live on as a profitable product long after BB10 is gone. They would be throwing away all of that future revenue by releasing QNX source code, plus undermining their (hoped) future in the IoT.

    No, the only way survives is if BB continues to work on it themselves, and they clearly don't intend to do that, beyond the two promised security patches.
