Some of you will know I am thinking of swapping my iphone 4 for a Blackberry 9900

As both the phones are on contact and I decide to swap for the 9900,
They have said they will phone the insurance while they are here and swap the insurance to the iphones imei and I swap mine to the blackberries imei

Whats to stop the guy phoning orange and saying his phones been stolen as soon as he leaves?

Nothing, but same goes for you. I usually do not feel good about deals like this unless it is a close friend or family!

What if the insurance has been changed so he rings his and changes it to iPhone IMEI and I change mine to the blackberry IMEI?

Too much confusion for me. Sell the iphone, buy a 99xx with insurance from a carrier.

The best way to handle it is to do it in the store that way the swap is documented by the carrier.

Well my insurance goes from my iphone on to the new handset as long as I provide them with the imei number.
But what worries me is that in a week or so they could phone up ORANGE and tell them the blackberry was stolen

    and I'm out of phone

I'm thinking Orange is your carrier? Then just go into a store with both phones and both folks involved and have a representative handle the swap right then and there. Not only are you sure it's a good MEID # there is no question later of the intent. It's the safest method you could do.

I understand your fears and of course there's always a risk but I think you're "overthinking" it. You're making yourself paranoid!

    Most likely!
Cause my partner once did a phone swap and it ended up getting barred 2 weeks later

Meet at the phone store, as suggested above, and activate the device right then. That way it will be associated with your account before anything else can be done.

Phones 4 U have said if we both take them to local store they will phone and swap my insurance to the Blackberry

And if it gets Black Listed they will also Un-Blacklist it(my insurance)

I would just side with the rest and go to the Orange carrier store and have all of the details taken care of with the person being with me so nothing can be tricked, lied or done without me knowing. That is the best precaution. This way, nobody gets slapped.
