A friend is looking to buy a Torch (upon my recommendation). He found one and won't have a problem unlocking it. Since PIN's are non-transferable and can't be changed, will he have a problem using BBM? It's not somehow locked into a carrier, is it?

He currently has another Blackberry (not sure which model0, so transferring his contacts over won't be a problem. Just making sure that BBM will be accessible to him.

BBM is not locked to carrier but go PIN. if the phone is unlocked and has BIS service on the new carrier all should be well.

after unlocking it and inserting the sim card of the carrier that he use it with just activate the BIS on that device - it will work with the new device's PIN number. just get the service book updated if you have any problems with it.
