Hello, Iphones are now being sold in Canada through Apple store, and no contract is required.

My question is, does RIM provide this service? I know in some countries phones come unlocked (since there's no control of the carrier over the phones) but I was wondering if that's available in Canada...?

You can always buy a Blackberry without a contract. Unfortunately, you'll be paying full retail price instead of the discounted contract price.

But I find the prices to be extremely more expensive (compared to finding it somewhere else) am I right?

How much are they selling the iPhone 4 32G for in Canada without contract?

In USA, we can only purchase the iPhone from the Apple store with a 2 year contract through AT&T. Which brings the phone down to $200-300 depending on the model.

Well you can either get the contract and pay something similar to what you pay or the full price $649 and it would be automatically unlocked and used globally.

Yeah, then it is basically the same for Blackberry's. Take the Torch for example, you can purchase it through any retailer or carrier without a contract for $499 or get it with a contract for $99-199. You can get unlock codes for free, so that doesn't really affect the price.
