Is there anyone that resides in Canada that can tell me if we can claim business use of a personal cell phone? The specifics would be: I have a Torch that I pay $70 for per month, my employee subsidizes that by giving me $55 per month. Of course now the $55 is a taxable benefit, but can I claim any of this on my tax return?
You would only be able to claim the $15 /month difference if you use the phone 100% for business. If you only use $55 /month business use then you are not using any of your own income as a business expense and you can't claim any.
