i went from storm 2 to 9860, love it, but i hear many people prefer the physical keyboard instead of virtual
I think this is key! I much prefer the physical keyboard, and the 9930 is great for that, PLUS it gives you the touch screen. On the downside the 9930 has a smaller screen, but it's bigger than any other keyboard BB. 9860 is going to give you a much more satisfying screen expierence.
I moved from Bold 9700 to a Torch 9800 and was not a smart choice! The device is great but the slide is not good for me. The touch is nice and helps a lot, but not having the physical keyboard all the time it sucks!
Soon Ill be Bold again! Looking forward to get a Bold 9900!
That's what I like about Bold's I love the keyboards but love a big screen so I'm torn between the two
Does Vodafone carry the 9810? If so, go try it at the store. I'm really happy with mine. The screen isn't as big as the one you're thinking of, but it has a larger screen than most BBs and has the physical keyboard if you want to use it.
Vodafone do have the 9810 but I've had slide phones in the past and the slide breaks easily so thats what puts me off that phone.
9900:
Keyboard
NFC
Smaller screen
Fixed focus camera
9860:
Virtual keyboard
No NFC
Large screen
Autofocus camera
Other than that, they're the same internals. If the 9900/9930 had an autofocus camera, I'd have owned one at launch. Is the 9790 available for your carrier?
The 9810 was the best move for me. Its just right ;)
Yes moving parts have a better chance of breaking, With that being said I had my 9800 for a year with only one drop & no issue, the wife is going on almost two years with her 9800 with more drops then I care to mention & has no issues with the slider. Guess What I'm trying to say is If you take care of your phone then it will take care of you, but these dam BB take a beating. :)
The decision between these two models was the hardest one to make (other than the Galaxy S2.) I was sold on the keyboard of the Bold but that screen size on the 9860 is hard to say "no" to. There is a significant price difference between these two phones and, if I wasn't such a fan of the QWERTY, I would have gone with Torch. Try either one out, return it if you don't love it.
I've had both the 9800 and the 9810. The slider was solid on both. In the end, you're the one who has to be happy with your choice. All I'm suggesting is that you include the 9810 as one of the options to play with at the store, before you decide. It might be an alternative for you. Or it might not. Just don't discount the idea without looking at it.
Same here. The 9800 is going strong in the offspring's hands still.
Between the 9900 and the 9810 the form factor won me over. The slider and big screen work fine in my hands and NFC is not useful anyway for me.
I moved from 9700 to 9860 just in the last week. So far I am easily getting accustomed to typing on the screen and very happy with the performance of the phone though the battery life is considerably lower. Mind you I am doing a lot more internet surfing on this phone and OS update did help a bit.
Don't regret it one bit and next year when its time to get a new one I can go either way again.
Bolds are the best for me.
If you like your Blackberry and you will like it without the pysical keyboard then i think that you will enjoy the Blackberry Torch 9860.
I think 9800/9810 slider is very sturdy. The slider mechanism itself is different from other slider phones such as nokia or sony ericcsson. Just see the build of slider mechanism in 9810/9800. I used a 9800 for almost a year and upgraded to 9810 early this year. no problem at all.

I like 9810. Good phone. Still 9900 looks more like pro device. :)
I've used curve, torch, and bold..I really liked my 8900, and I still do..one of my favs, and it's had it rough. I had the Torch 9800,9810 and I really liked those, but I couldn't handle the wobble of the slider when slider was closed..I'm real knit-picky about small things though sometimes. I always seem to end up with a Bold...I think they are all great devices though.
