    I just recently upgraded from my Pearl to a Bold. For some reason, the Bold deletes my old calendar entries.

    I two-way synch with Outlook and there's no issues there. The problem is that anything past a week old on my device automatically gets deleted. I've tried everything...the options on my device and outlook are set to keep appointments forever, I have a ton of free memory and I'm using the most current OS.

    Anyone else had this issue? I've checked tons of forums and have come up empty handed so far.

    you're sure the options are correct in the calendar in your bb?

    in general options it says 'keep appontments' and then you have that checked for forever?

    Yup....that's why I can't figure it out. The only historical items the Bold wants to keep are recurring events.

    are you on a bis or bes?


    if your on bis move on if your on BES you may want to consult your IT guy before doing anything
    what I would personally do is if battery pulls and everything still isn't fixing it

    I would make a complete backup of the device with dm..

    wipe device to factory defaults from menu of device.. I think a option pops up asking what exactly you want to wipe.. can't remember for the bold. I think there is 2 options one will wipe settings and one will wipe all third party apps and settings.. you only really wanna wipe the settings... and messages which make sure there all backed up and good before you do that

    then.. to a advanced restore and restore everything accept the settings

    go through and reset up the settings..


    before making this jump make sure you have some spare time.. because this can take a little bit to do..

    This would be before a complete device wipe

    just my thought's on how I would probably do it

    I have the same problem. No matter what time limit I set for "Keep Appointments," it still deletes calendar entries more than 1 week old.

    Hello,
    I have exactly the same problem too. And it is very very annoying...
    I tried everything : upgrade OS, reset all settings, different manipulations on outlook sync, change calendar options, etc. Nothing works!
    I hope somebody will find a solution, or a new OS will be published.

    There are numerous glitches when trying to synchronize with MS Outlook:

    1) Every day I receive a message to delete calendar items in outlook.
    "The following changes from Calendar Device will be applied to your Microsoft Outlook data in Calendar: 35 Deletion(s)" I have tried everything, in the mean time I keep clicking "reject" so that I don't delete my outlook items. I tried removing the synchronization settings and at first I thought it was actually working. By the next day I say the same message come up.

    2) The Start Date in the Outlook Tasks mysteriously changes to a day 10,136 before the Due Date in Outlook (that's almost 30 years!). I change the due date and leave the start date blank in outlook, but the BB software, after synchronizing, makes the Start Date be xx/xx/1981. The detail shows the former value being blank, then the new values as xx/xx/1981. If I remove the due date in outlook, the synchronization works. I use the outlook tasks extensively so stuff like this is really annoying.

    3) After every sync, it tries to update Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish Language Support. I don't know those languages and prefer none of them installed. How do you remove this? Maybe install it and remove it afterwords, but I don't know how to remove.

    I'm still dealing with the device wanting to delete calendar entries and I still have a task that keeps getting reset to 4-7-1981. When in God's name will there be a solution to this???? I was considering calling Blackberry but they charge $50. I will eventually have to call them because this is beyond ridiculous. I'll post solution if I ever find out. (I miss MS active sync)

    After a couple of months, hours on the phone with AT&T and RIM I figured out the problem for my situation. Talked to RIM about it again this morning to let them know about my fix. (Fortunately, AT&T patched me in to them a couple of weeks ago and I got a case number. So I've been able to talk back and forth to them for free.)
    All my settings on both the device and BB Desktop software were correct. I keep and transfer all Calendar items forever so I have the info on both Outlook and BB. But now when I would go to sync it wanted to delete thousands of entries on Outlook. I would reset the confirguration and sync again. Only to have the problem appear again with the next one or two syncs. Then I realized the problem was the BB. I had completely deleted the calendar from my BB and did a sync. Now Outlook and BB were identical again. About an hour later I happened to check my BB Calendar under Options and saw I now only had 221 entries not the 3,342 I just had an hour ago. I hadn't touched the BB for an hour. Problem is BB was deleting the entries. Why? I still don't know. But the fix was . . . . . I took the battery out for about 30 seconds and put it back in. Reset the configuration and did a sync. That's it!!!!!! Two weeks later and doing at least one sync a day I have had no problems. I'm still nervous so I check my BB Calendar under Options every so often to see if all entries are there and they are!!! Don't know how long the fix will hold but so far so good and if it doesn't then I'll take the battery out again and see if that fixes it again. BTW - my husband and I both got BB Bolds 2 1/2 months ago and we both had the same problem and both are now working okay (until he dropped his in the water 2 days ago and it's dead -- but that's a whole other story).

    Sounds like you were running out of free memory and the phone was deleting old calendar entries in an effort to free some memory to run apps.

    I've noticed the same problem with my Bold - it had been working fine (for about 3 months) until a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that lots of my Outlook calendar items were disappearing.

    Tracked it down to the Bold automatically deleting everything in the calendar older than 7 days old - even though the setting was for 60 days. Changed that to keep items forever - which in theory is supposed to restore the missing items, but it didn't.

    When I tried to re-synch it again tried to delete the missing items from Outlook, so I'm now going through manually adding in items to the Bold before I try and re-synch it with Outlook.

    I've also taken the battery out for a few minutes, as that seemed to work for another user.

    Will advise how I get on - there is clearly an issue with the Bold OS...

    That is the amount of storage space left and not how much system memory is left.
    From the Help Me! screen you are looking for the File Free total which has to be less than 100,000,000 by a lot.

    Hmmm - I couldn't follow the Help Me link, but in the Memory section, I have 31.8Mb listed as free space under Application Memory, and 560.1Mb listed as free under Device Memory (out of a total of 859.2Mb).

    Is the latter figure not the amount of space the phone has available to store data?

    When synching my Bold, it shows total system memory of 99.7Mb, with free space of 8.55Mb...

    Still seems a lot of free space?

    Oh, and I just tried to synch my Bold again, and it came up with 26 deletions from 2004-2006 - haven't got a clue what's going on, but it's clearly buggy...

    I think the cut off is 14 meg before it starts removing things. Anything below 10 is in the danger zone. Have you done a battery pull lately? Do you have a lot of themes on your phone?

    BTW: alt-caps-h brings up the Help Me! app.

    Thanks for that - I went through the system folder, it only contained stuff that was pre-loaded, but I deleted 2 of the demo videos (~75Mb) so I now have over 80Mb free...

    Fingers crossed that sorts it!

    Very interesting link...I've been waiting for the Blackbold to come to Japan, and it finally did last Friday (Feb 20th), my Blackberry Bold removed my Outlook calendar items and won't return them on sync? It only returns the reocurring events, like weekly meetings, everything else is gone. I have tried everything! I now set my Bold as the primary device and am trying to do a one way sync back to my Outlook without success.

    I was told by tech support to take out the battery/put back in (no amount of time specified) and that should do it. Unfortunitely it didn't work for me...However I didn't leave the battery out for 1-2 minutes.

    Is the extra time required to clear the memory? Or does anyone else have any ideas?

    Still having problems with random deletions from the handset despite having freed up most of my Bold's memory...

    Have tried pulling the battery out for an hour, but that doesn't seem to have helped... Am really scratching my head about what I can do, other than take it back (or do a firmware upgrade if that's possible??).

    Also one other tip for others having the same problem is that when you synch, and it comes up with n deletions, click on the 're-sync' button, and it will add the missing entries back into the handset, as well as synching everything else. Not a long term solution, but may be helpful...

    Yes that's what i just did and it seemed to work for me. Along with the batt pull, I also hit re-sync. It then did not delete the record it wanted to, and after that I did the normal sync a few times and it no longer wanted to delete.

    Quick update - nothing was working so I decided to download the latest software (4.6.0.162) from my carrier (O2 in the UK).

    The download and upgrade was really smooth - although it took over an hour - and ever since (5 days ago), synching has been perfect.

    I'd advise anyone who is still having calendar deletion problems to try the same thing...

    I seriously thought that I was the only one that was having this problem, but i guess i'm not the only one. Thank God. anyways, I'm going to try the update of the OS. But i have to ask, I don't actually use any calendar to sync with (ie google calendar, ms outlook, etc) I only use the calendar that's on the BB. Is this also adding to the problem? Only asking because most people raise this question with syncing issues with Outlook, etc.
