there is no need for any "solution"
amazing how people manufacture so called "flaws"
WiFi works EXACTLY as it was designed to ...
    SMH
Sorry, but I wasn't looking to "manufacture" flaws just trying to understand how the device works.

When the wifi is connected, the 9700 still shows a 3G connection and since I (and others) don't have unlimited data plans, and going over the usage limit costs a fortune, I want to be sure that the data is in fact go through wifi and not 3G.

Once Wifi connection is established and your Wifi icon goes white you will be connected to the BIS via wifi...for all data you will be using wifi. If you want to check that to be sure go to Manage Connections/Service Status. Under there when you are connected to Wifi the BIS Connections will show "Wifi", when you are not connected to Wifi the BIS Connection will show "Mobile Network". Hope this helps.
Stevie, thanks. That was exactly the type of answer I was looking for!

you can also download an app called "mobile data alerter". you can track the traffic of data transfer and it will even show what connection is currently being used (i.e. wifi/3g/2g)
