    Look into the Freedom product line, keychain GPS devices. They work well.

    Is there a monthly charge incurred with this setup does anyone know? Or do I simply buy it, charge it, pair it and TeleNav away?

    Some GPS software is FREE - that is the mapping is available once you have a data plan. GMaps from Google, BBMaps from, I think, Rim. Someone posted links to older versions of another software that is free.

    Some require subscriptions.
