Bluetooth Driver Issue
I've seen several posts about this issue but nothing concrete in the way of solutions. I have a Dell 1705 with Dell wireless 350 bluetooth. Device Manager in VISTA says the diver is Microsoft 6.0.6000.16398 and the details list three files located C:Windows\system32\ first two are in the DRIVERS subfolder, "bthport.sys" "BTHUSB.SYS" "fsquirt.exe". There is also a Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator listed using "bthenum.sys" as the driver. In the Connection Settings of Desktop Manager, the Bluetooth Settings are visible and "Enable Bluetooth support" is checked. In the Configure Bluetooth button, my BlackBerry 8830 is listed with the correct PIN number. (I have been able to get my computer and BlackBerry to recognize each other) However, I cannot transfer files to and from my device. A message appears saying transfer failed. When I bootup VISTA, a "Install Device Driver" dialog window appears. VISTA seems to know that something is wrong and that a device driver is needed but it cannot find one.
I don't know if this is related, but I seem to be one a very few who have had tremendous difficulty installing Desktop Manager. Finally installed it after four hours on the phone with Verizon (two different people) and finally with a RIM tech. But, because the culprit was due to a conflict between the Roxio Media Suite on my PC and the Roxio software tied in with the Desktop Manager, the RIM tech had me install the Desktop Manager without the Roxio media organizer. Don't know if that has anything to do with the Bluetooth issue or not.

Some phones and some carriers allow Obex (file transfer via bluetooth) and some do not. I know Verizon blocks Obex... maybe this helps??
You may also want to reinstall your bluetooth stack.

Yup, vzw is the culprit, like jrbarrett said and they block it in order to force you to download extras from them. BTW, DM has nothing to do with it.

Here is an updated list on the bluetooth profiles different PDA's will support from Verizon:

Thanks. Verizon is starting to PMO. First they denied my "new every two" discount when I upgraded to the BB. Then I find out GPS functionality is turned off to force purchase of VZ Navigator and now bluetooth only works with headsets and couple of other useless items.

Glad we could help even though the answer was not what you were hoping for.

hello..what can i do to my bluetooth im using blackberry curve8520 when i tranfer a song to my celphone my computer says
The file transfer failed because the receiving Bluetooth computer or device did not respond.
If you sent the file to another computer, that computer must be running the Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard. If you sent the file to a Bluetooth device, make sure the OBEX File Push Profile is installed.
please help me how to do or use my bluetooth..thank you
