Isn't that point of lawful request? Doesn't warrant require some probable cause?

If you're referring to BBM, then ok. Although BlackBerry only stores metadata.

As far as the device itself, there are no "keys". If BlackBerry pulled the memory chips out of the phone, could they circumvent the encryption on their work bench? Hard to say. I would doubt it.
