The federal MPs can only use iphone or BlackBerry. And it was an all party committee that came up with this decision. Wrong decision in my opinion, but Canada is a large country where regions often play off against one another.

The recent Ontario provincial issue was a proposal issued by an individual MPP, not a committee, and it was apparently this particular MPP has tabled a similar proposal on many occasions. With the Ontario economy and deficits the way they are, it is not a good time for gold plated pensioned MPPs to ask for free$1,000 forgein phones at a 1.5 hour drive from a struggling BlackBerry headquarters given all the contributions that company has provided the province in the past.

Not by cmte but decided by the BOIE.
But most importantly, doesn't matter who, what matters and what set the precedent is that Blackberry did not publicly comment on the matter as they are doing now.
And just for the record, MPs are using Apple and BlackBerry at the same time as corporate tools.
