I'm looking to get a new bb and I'm comparing models. Which is the best out of these two phones, and why? I had the 9800 before and I find sliding the device up to access the keyboard can become annoying, as I type so much!

As always my main concern with BlackBerry's is battery life, regardless of anything else as I know these two phones have good specs. From a single overnight charge it has to last all day (About 18 hours) With medium to heavy usage! Obviously brightness is on 0% and i close all apps.

    Thanks

You've got these 2 threads asking about the 9900 vs the 9790

You really should have all the info you need about the 9790, if you pop over to

you can get a good feel for the 9810's battery life.

you had a 9800 so you know the form factor, it is the exact same, the 9810 will have slightly inferior battery life to your 9800

then 9810 will continue to annoy you as its the same form factor. I own 9810 and with the latest v7.1 battery seems to be pretty good. On weekdays I charge every nite ( still have like 30 % left @ d end of the day). but on weekends, battery life last me two days.

I'd say go for the 9790. After I had my 9800 I realized how lovely the traditional candybar layout is. Also you'll get better battery life and a better user experience in my opinion. But the 9810 will probably get software updates faster and has a quicker CPU and modem 1.2GHz and 14.4 MBPS modem on the 9810 vs. 1 GHz and 7.2MBPS. But it won't make data noticeably slower between the two. There's my view from owning a 9800.

I upgraded from the 9800 to the 9810. The 9810 is a much better phone. It is easier to type on the 9810.

Sliding the keyboard doesn't annoy me at all...maybe I don't notice it because the 9810 is such a smooth operator IME, and if I'm typing a lot I leave it open

With heavy usage you definitely won't last the whole day on one charge, LOL
...but the phone is very good...get an extra battery

No comparison IMO, based on screen size alone. What's the point in a tiny little touch screen??? 9810 is the best of 4 BB's I've ever had - even the guys at work who switched to iPhones in the last year are very impressed with it.

No brainer for me as I'm gettin' a little older now and the 9810 real estate is already border line for me, like reading descriptions in appworld and such. I also find it quite comfortable. I'm really glad they came up with this model
