Blackberry SIM card and unlocking
Need help with my Blackberry cellphones - unlocking and using.
and general advice would be great.
I really like Blackberry, and i am used to it...
I have a Blackberry Bold 9000 for a long time now, I had a Nokia before the BOLD 9000 and then when i got the bb9000 i have used it until now with my SIM-card from orange.
I'm have a simple pre-paid plan that i use and i have this phone number for many years now.
The bold 9000 is great and i really like it, but it's time to get a new one, right?
Any way, i have ordered a new Blackberry 9800 (torch) online and now i finally got it! (yesterday)
Now, i have inserted my Orange SIM card - but it didn't worked, after looking for some information online and everything - i have found that my old Blackberry bold is unlocked, and that's why it's working with my orange SIM card, when i have payed for my old blackberry 9000 it was "almost new" and it was unlocked - i didn't know that until yesterday.
any way, i have this new blackberry 9800 here with me and i sooo want to see it working, but after reading some stuff about it, i understand that i need to do 2 things - first, is to unlock my blackberry 9800 and then also install a "service book".
I don't use internet much with my mobile - just like the keyboard for text. But, now i am thinking to get a normal plan from orange and start using it with internet - i won't do now, but i hope that soon i will be able to upgrade my plan.
1) how blackberry unlocking is working, i have found some websites that offer unlocking for blackberry using it's imei code and an unlocking code, how all this working ? (i know what is the imei - but dont know much about all that MEP and networks unlocking stuff) - is this safe to buy from those websites?
2) i need help with the service book, what is it? how do i get it?
3) if i will get a new plan from Orange Cameroun - will my new blackberry 9800 will work with it? because i think they have a special blackberry plan - but the new blackberry i have is AT&T blackberry from the US.
Thank you/
Unlock blackberry - online
Hi maark, Welcome to Crackberry.com
Blackberry unlocking is a pretty simple thing, when you buy a cellular device from a network carrier they will provide you with a device that is locked / branded to their network - that means that if you buy a Blackberry from at&t it will be working with at&t network only, orange uk will work with orange uk sim cards.
Now, if you take a Blackberry that is branded with Orange UK for example - and you want to use it with T-Mobile USA in the US, so you need to unlock it to remove to branded network lock from your Blackberry device.
Blackberry unlocking is done by using a unique unlocking code, you can order one online - it's safe, and working.
After unlocking your Blackberry 9800 once it will work with any network carrier, you only need to unlock it - you can get instant unlocking service that will calculate the unlocking code for your blackberry and send it to your Email in minutes.
after you get the unlocking code, If you need instructions to unlock your Blackberry torch you can find it here:
Blackberry 9800 torch unlocking instructions
About the service book, well let's just say that you don't need it if you are not going to update your pre-paid plan. :)
After unlocking your Blackberry torch it will work with the networks, it means that if you insert a SIM card of orange to your at&t - you will be able to get signal, so you can use your device for calls and SMS.
But, when you upgrade your plan be sure to include blackberry BIS, Blackberry has it's own network that let you use BBM and APPs. but i am not familiar with Orange camaroun too much - so i hope that someone here will help you with it. also try to search Crackberry for "service book" - you will find here some great tutorials about installing a service book.
Any way, good luck and enjoy your new Blackberry 9800 :)
