I just bought a Pearl from T-Mobile. I have it set to keep messages "forever", but three times since I've had this phone I've unlocked it to find that all of my texts are gone and my call log is deleted.
Anyone know why this is happening? It's very, very frustrating.
EDIT: I have tons of free memory- 7,324,060 bytes- so I don't think the problem is running out of memory.

I had that problem with the 8310 I had...go under options--status and check your free memory...if that is starting to get low or is at 0 it will delete your call logs and texts
It says I have 7,324,060 bytes free. That's a lot, yeah? I have a 4gb micro SD that I keep all pictures & music on, so my texts are pretty much the only thing on the actual phone memory.
Memory is "used" when running applications.
Although the phone is new, it may still be low on memory even after a very short period.
There are methods of optimizing memory usage, and ensuring that the memory of your device doesn't get low quickly; for example, always closing out of applications when you're done with them.
It's also advisable to store all of your pics, music and ringtones on a memory card rather than on the device memory.
There's your problem. I've heard you need a minimum of 12mb of file free memory. You only have 7! Don't assume because the phone is new you have lots of memory.
