    Huh?

There is no TCL phone-home code as far as I'm aware.

    BlackBerry does some diagnostics though.

As conite suggested BB Ltd has Hub+Services diagnostics sent via the Hub+Services app. This occurs even if you have Diagnostics turned off in system settings.

Here is a thread discussing the findings: https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...lysis-1131866/

Regarding other sources of Telemetry on device:

Qualcomm calls up izat and QDMA to send back telemetry

For TCL, the android system consistently calls up TCL cloud servers but as far as I can tell, this is to check for system updates because if I manually check for an update, the same servers are called.

Sadly, the latest system app addition to BB Key2 and Key2 LE is the dual services app which contacts facebook social graph when not in use, and LBE Tech, Google and Facebook if it is in use.

A firewall app like Netguard can be used to easily block all of these connections.

Even with BB10... kinda taught a consumer VPN would have been a nice "security" service for BlackBerry to offer (along with other BlackBerry Cloud solutions), with Android adding this to DTEK would have really made it stand out. Oh well...

As for security.... how many governments have approved BBMo devices for use on their networks?

They would have tried to monetize it and sell it only to enterprises, much like they did with BBM Protected.

No need for VPN when using BlackBerry UEM. They also have BlackBerry Workspaces for Enterprise.
