Just got a notification on my Snap2chat app that SnapChat has an update that offers chat and video chat. It's a unique way of how they implement it.

I know BBM has a lot of work to do with making it stable for all and launching on Windows this summer and making the UI simpler but I'm very patient if they push out video chat to ALL it would really put BBM above most chatting IMs if not all, but that SnapChat update looks unique

BlackBerry has already stated that video calling will be cross-platform. Now we're just waiting for it to appear. Can't be too soon for me!

Why would that be. What feature would BBM video have for Android that Skype/Snapchat/Hangouts do not?

i don't know. those who have BBM on androids, is because its BBM. Atleast, with video calling, you'll have it as an advantage over whatsapp. And all at a same place,i.e. file sharing, chats, groups, video calling, channels(news)-is kind of convenient. In my opinion

Yes I agree that BlackBerry needs to bring video chat and screen share cross platform. It's kind of amazing that they haven't yet.

Agreed. The iPhone users are all happy with "facetiming" I have a Z30, so no facetime for me but if we all have fantastic BBM video, we can hopefully leave facetime in the dust...

Well it's not like there's anything wrong with Facetime, but I think it's important for BlackBerry to have a real competitor.

And another thing well a couple of things I would love to see added video support in Channels and groups. But I would settle for the D and R in groups and to start the chat where you last left off so you can catch up on the discussion

I suspect that they will introduce cross-platform BBM Video Chat when they release the BBM Windows Phone app this "summer"......i just hope that it's the beginning of summer and not the end because otherwise we still have a LONG time to wait

BBM stated that it will bring video and voice calling when the cross platform was launched last year right about the end summer, voice came around about Christmas, so I guess video will come about during summer. The thing is during that time almost every other competitors APP became available at BBW. Most of them had voice chat, some video chat. Other released this options during that period of time.
What worries me is by the time video chat is released by BlackBerry BBM clients will be already video chatting on another major competitor and won't come back to BBM or won't convince friends to change over to BBM. Being late on technology is suicide for companies this days special with poor advertising as it is BlackBerry operating mode.

IMO, BlackBerry should do more than just have BBM video cross platform. Landscape mode has to be an option. Attachments in group chat. Stickers in group chat. BBM on computers. I think that's it from the top of my head.

There are other things but it's the OS, not BBM. For example: the bar where the clip, message bar and smile face are is unnecessarily large. That's not good because it takes up screen space unnecessarily. A lot of things in the OS are unnecessarily larger than they have to be. Having three options sections, swiping down from top bezel, three dots and three bars.

I can think of a couple videos I'd like to see to promote BBM one would be with summer coming up, could show a group of four or five families looking for a camping spot when one family finds the perfect location they BBM the rest of the group in a group chat and Glimpse the location. They all come together for a great time. The second idea would be quite similar but for a younger crowd where you would have a group people at a music festival who get separated but with the help of group chat and glimpse are available to find each other.
