I doubt this will help Blackberry.
I know but can always hope. Lol

The relevant info:
"The group informed Samsung of these vulnerabilities earlier in the year, which were patched in the May security update."
So it's a non-issue for the past five months.
Problem is how many Carrier's have pushed out the updates? Might be five months isn't all that long....
But it sounded like they first had to use an existing known security flaw (from a year ago) to work, before this new vulnerability could be used. So really if you had a phone patched last year, this new vulnerability meant nothing....
But that is the KEY... having a phone that get regular updates.
Still, the Galaxy S6 mentioned in the article has recent patches (August-September), even from the Americans.

But doesn't this cause more of an issue for BlackBerry? I thought BlackBerry was recently involved in working with Samsung on improving or securing Knox. Perhaps I am wrong here. Just thought I read something about them working together on this.
Please, please, please somebody else fall on your face so BlackBerry can rise from the dead again!
If anyone seriously thinks Samsung's demise is, #1 - imminent and, #2 a chance for BlackBerry to recover their past glory ..... please take a deep breath and come back to reality.

For those with Sammy phones that are still getting regular updates.... :-)

I am sure this will be a big factor in the decision making of the low end Indonesian consumers who will be able to buy a blackberry.
Count me in
Of course this is important for BlackBerry. Believe the are going to go for NIAP for their hardened android. So no need for Knox. Then they can harden phones as they wish for government applications or other high security applications.
