Perhaps BlackBerry could preinstall some of their apps on Nokia/Sony/Samsung devices, especially hub. Then once everyone is addicted and gets a feel for BlackBerry software, charge for dtek app or profiting from it somehow. Perhaps a service like BBM where you are given 1 number and you can text, call, email, everything to that 1 number rather than having many different accounts.
The hardware and software BlackBerry combo thing isn't working out for them, may as well take another approach.

most all other companies already have their own apps and they use them to differentiate themselves from the other OEMs. They already sell the suite of apps on the appstore anyway

BBMo/TCL still has some time left on their licensing agreement. BB doesn’t want to interfere with current arrangement just yet.
