I think the biggest problem people might be having is caused by not deleting the VENDOR.XML file from the version downloaded from the BB site.

I am running 4.5.0.81 on my Curve/8320 with T-Mobile. No problems at all.
We have to be careful to distinguish between BlackBerry Automatic Update and a manual update.

At this time, T-Mobile does not support the Automatic Update.

Great thing about the Automatic Update, no worries about the Vendor.xml file. It is there and it does it's job correctly.

BlackBerry has a support page that lists the new features and improvements.

    BlackBerry - BlackBerry Device Software

As for the strange forwarding, the North American carriers link directly to the BlackBerry Device OS page. I can not speak for the European carriers, but it would be hosted in your native language, somewhere in the EU.
Okay. I think I will give it a try in these days.
But first I want to know if this Blackberry
is the right one to download for my 8100?
T-Mobile NL redirects me here, and yes a Czech-based website where no login is required.
    79MB
Then just follow instructions as posted here on different threads, just plug&play using Desktop Manager?

    *still affraid in upgrading OS*

I would be suggesting to moderators one 100% clear thread concerning upgrading, all tips/tricks/how to's in one place. Now I am finding a bit info here and there around the CB forum.

The link you provided does take me to the T-Mobile Europe page, but it does require a logon to continue. I can not verify that it actually takes me to the correct device OS page.

If your intension is to upgrade your T-Mobile 8100, I can recomend the link to the latest carrier supported update v4.5.0.81.

The process is not difficult, but is complicated enough to be a concern the first time through.

    link to follow...

This package is supported by Vodaphone Australia and does include English and East Asian language support. That may not be suitable if you require the European language package.

I have been checking like everyday to see if my phone is finally supported but to no avail. I asked a rep about the upgrade for humor and I was told that she didn't know it was a different OS in 8220 vs any other Blackberry offered by Tmo.

I see that you have VZW posted as a supporting carrier. I tried a few hours ago and the apploader told me I had the latest update (currently running 4.3), and that I could sign up for an email update when a higher version is released. Was this added within the last 2 hours? Also, what version is it? After numerous failed attempts, I'm currently upgrading version .77 posted from the sticky of the Blackberry Cuve 83xx Forum as we speak.
    Help me please anybody........
It told me the same exact thing and Im running v4.2.2.180(Platform 2.5.0.36)

    Thx but still confused.
If my link didn't work try to click Free Dowload (works oly froma PC) which will take you to the download page for all RIM devices.
Anyway according to this " official" EU downloadportal for T-Mobille-BB users this version is called : 8100M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel92_PL2.7.0.72_A4.5.0.69.exe
Should I give it a try?

If I understand correctly, that is an 8100 v4.5 upgrade approved by T-Mobile Europe.

    Yes, go with that one.

Thank you and thx to the other moderators.

4.5.069 Tmo Eu approved is installed and perfectly working.
Nearly all 3rd party apps work perfectly! Only ColorPearl is not working.

*Having a glass of Chianti Classico Riserva now to celebrate it*

As for all my previous posts here with questions and doubts if I should upgrade yes or no, I can also now recommend a 4.5 upgrade!
If I did it, anybody can....

    Thx again everybody!!!

Thanks for that update. That is the typical message when you are already at the currently supported version.

I tried to access Verizon's OS page, but it is asking for a valid email address and will not let me proceed.

I have moved Verizon to Reported, but not confirmed.
At this time VZW does not recommend that its customers upgrade to the 4.5 or the reported 4.6 that is coming out. They provide support for 4.3 and that is the most up to date software they can assist with.

Verizon may be limiting something, if some report success and others report failure, It should be considered Amber.
