... or how Cellebrite can "hack" an BlackBerry Phone.

Due to the iPhone legal case of Apple vs. FBI some information has been published on cryptome. It is fairly detailed described how Cellebrite can circumvent BlackBerry's security architecture (from a workflow perspective) and how they can infiltrate and extract data from a BlackBerry device (page 22/23).
    https://cryptome.org/2016/03/cellebrite-msab-001.pdf

Based on the available information it is not explicitly mentioned which versions but due to the date one can assume it is at least for BBOS. Unclear if its also possible on BB10 but at least Cellebrite has some possibilities concerning filesystem and backup decryption (Cellebrite - BlackBerry Forensics - Physical Extraction and Decoding from BlackBerry Devices)

Cellebrite has been around for years. Their methods and existence aren't really anything new. Their tactics have always been hit or miss on actual data extraction and often come with a lot of caveats. - https://www.google.ca/search?q=Celle...crackberry.com

    Hi,

Yeah, know them among other forensic labs but the intended reason I brought up was the linked pdf where they describe the process how they get in by chaining/piggy backing the signed blackberry boot loader and thus bringing in their own (didn't find those infos via the fora-search or missed them). The available information is somewhat conform to the leaked info from the Italian Hacking Team company, where they also stated only BBOS devices can be compromised but currently no BB10. Sorry, didn't clearly stated that.

Besides that I'm curious how the boot-chain security differs from BBOS vs BB10 or Priv's Android. Does somebody have some insights besides the official information?

    regards

Why is BlackBerry not responding to these methods?
