The Blackberry Curve 8900 is the BEST BB EVER MADE!!!
- Seriously!!!! I am currently awaiting my 4th 9780. Last 2 have had loose/wobbly trackpads. I don't understand why RIM got rid of the trackball. It was better!!!! I have had my 8900 for 2 years and not encountered one issue with it. I've dropped it and its still as great as day 1. I don't understand what is happening to RIM. I had high hopes for the 9780 too.
BB 8900 was the last BB with awesome quality. I looked over the Torch forum a few months ago, and users are exchanging several units due to defects. Up til now I always thought of quality and Blackberry being in the same sentence. According to the 9780 forum, too many people are having the same issues with this device.
I don't want to leave Blackberry again but 4 defective phones???? ): ): ):
The Galaxy S 4G is looking better and better.02-18-11 09:47 PMLike 0 - I've had the same 9700 since it launched in November 2009. It is flawless. I think you get lucky or unlucky sometimes. As an example my gf is on her third samsung vibrant after having gone through 4 mytouch 3gs. We had to give our first born to samsung for the right to upgrade to froyo and the phone now lags and reboots when it feels like it. Our only option left is another replacement or rooting...we can't wipe and redownload. My point is don't generalize based only on the complainers. I'm sorry you have had issues with the 9780 but I had none with the 9700 and I think every manufacturer has their bad stories. Perhaps the one consistent aspect of all these stories is the carrier, it almost seems like they are unable to replace a bad unit with a good one regardless of who made it.02-18-11 10:05 PMLike 0

It is, and I will always keep it as a backup!!!02-18-11 10:13 PMLike 0 - I had an 8900 before the 9700 and 9800. It was a good phone, but it's Edge network and cheaply made build is definitely no match for the newer devices. But like others have said, it depends on how lucky you are with the build and defects of your bb.

I bought 2 9780s and they have all hard perfect quality. (Made in Hungary 2). My friend bought a 9780 after I advised him too and it was perfect as well.
Good luck on your next one02-18-11 11:03 PMLike 0 - While I dig your exuberance I must disagree. The Bold 9000 had the best keyboard bar none and it is 3G, which blows edge away! Unfortunately I am using an 8900 because my Bold nattery is useless and being today I am capable of my AT&T upgrade, I did not want to spend the money on the battery. Now the question is what do I get next?
The 8900 is a great device with plenty of ram and excellent battery life(read no 3G) but not the best BlackBerry. ;-)

Better battery, better screen, trackpad, 3G, better WiFi, better camera.02-18-11 11:13 PMLike 0 - Retail units rarely have problems. Maybe that is why you have been getting continous problems. Good luck on your next one02-18-11 11:16 PMLike 0 - You know I love the 9780 (just waiting for a model that isn't defected) but I still prefer the curve keyboard to the bold. Maybe this is just me but the 8900 feels a little heavier which I like.02-18-11 11:17 PMLike 0
- I did like the keyboard on the 8900 too, but when I got the 9700 I compared them and the Curve wasn't as heavy nor did it feel as solid.02-19-11 10:43 AMLike 0
- I love the 9700... Just absolutely love it. The 8900 was solid, as was the 9000, as is the Torch. This is all given that you get a well made model.
The curve keyboard lovers might rejoice with the Dakota if they go that route due to the sheer size of the keys.
