Hello, i am new here and I hope I can get an answer to this question. I have an old BB Curve 8530 that I used on the Sprint network. Now, I am with Verizon. Is there anyway I can use this phone with Verizon prepaid service? I don't know if this is even an option or if Verizon would be helpful i letting me use the phone to stay with their service.

    Thank you.

Sorry but it can only be used with sprint. Only gsm/hspa/umts devices can be unlocked.

Could it be used with the Boost Mobile prepaid, since it is Sprint's pre-paid service?

Doubt it. You've already got answers.

CDMA units cannot be unlocked to work on other CDMA carriers, but they can be unlocked.

It's possible since they already offer the 8530 on Boost. Your best option is to talk to a knowledgeable Sprint rep about using it on Boost.

If you are a customer of Verizon they will charge you to load the software in the device and they will not support it. So basically NO!

The 8530 does not have a GSM radio, hence it cannot be unlocked. It is CDMA only.

I'm pretty sure you can flash it to boost. But you can't use it on Verizon, as has already been said.
