    Hi all,
Really need some help from you all.
I'm getting a contract soon but I'm split between the Bold 9900 and the Bold 9790. I've looked at a lot of reviews and been into my local phone store a lot to have a go on both the phones. I need someone to tell me how they compare to each other in aspects such as battery life, build quality and software reliability (crashes, bricking, etc). I use Blackberry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp almost all day. If anyone can help me decide on which one to get I would appreciate it very much.

    Thanks to anyone who answers.

I have both, and choose the 9790 over the 9900 whenever possible.

I was the opposite eh. 9900 was the better phone, had a better feel to it.

Difficult question - I took a 9790 finally. Better camers (in a way), and it's smaller. But when my daughter in law takes out her 9900... 'sigh'

I had the 9790 for a week. Didn't feel right for me so I exchanged it for the 9900. Never looked back, there is no comparison.

Why is that? I really like the 9790, but its not available for my carrier.

The FEEL of the 9790 is better in hand the edges are rounded not squared off like that of my 9900 and my iPhone but side buttons are almost hidden the way they are shaped, they are tiny and very responsive. the USB port in on the bottom which is the Perfect spot for a charge port on a device, the one thing I like about my iPhone, and liked about the SG3 over the 9900.
    The Battery lasts slightly longer
The BlackBerry Row of buttons are individual, and the feel of them is superior to any BlackBerry I've owned, including the 8330 which I think was the most comfortable phone ever to use.

That is why I love it

They are similar devices. The Bold 9900 is larger with an awesome keyboard. Some people like the feel of the 9790. I prefer the 9900/9930, it's the best BB I've owned.

Two great phones, I my primary is the 9930 [in the same alignment with 9900] and it has been the best so far, but you cannot go wrong.

    Best of Luck!

Thanks for the response. I am going to keep my eyes open for a 9790 that's unlocked for my carrier (AT&T), but if I run across a great deal on a 9900 might still go that direction. However, I really like the size of the 9790. Looks to be the same size of my 9700.

    Your 9700 is
    109 x 60 x 14mm
    The 9790 is
    110 x 60 x 11.4mm

and Just look for a 9790 from Rogers, Bell, Telus, all 3 would work on your AT&T network.
It really is a shame that the only carrier in the US with the 9790 is Cincinnati Bell.

I didn't realize the 9790 was similar in size to the 9700. When you say the battery lasts "slightly longer" than the 9900, what does that actually mean? Some users in the 9900 forum have said they easily get 24 hours out of the device... Thoughts?

for me I get 12ish Hours on the 9900 and 13ish hours on the 9790 same usage, so the difference isn't really big but I'm a heavy user on the device with voice and email

Thanks to everyone who has answered, all I need to know is how the phones are now. After seeing so many people having battery and software issues to start with, how are the phones now?... have all the issues (both battery and software) been sorted out?
