When my 8330 Curve goes into idle mode, the screen goes completely black and I have to press the track-ball or another key to light the screen up...how do I stop the screen from going black? I just want it to dim only. Is there a way to do this?

Not to my knowledge. How long do you leave your BB idle for? Why not put it in Suspend when not in use?

What is the suspend mode? I've never heard of it...
I'm not familiar with Suspend either. There is a free utility called BBLight that will let you control your backlight. You can find it by Googling BBLight.

A couple of thoughts...
If you were to get your wish your battery life would be practically nil. The screen goes dark to preserve said battery life. You can adjust how long the screen stays lit...I have mine set for 15 seconds.
As for the "suspend" comment...I always called that "sleep" mode.
