    hi all,

we are trying to use our Blackberries for alerting our on-call staff.
In the past we used SMS but want to move to email alerts as they are not limited in size.
We would need to configure the bb to ring when specific subjects / sender addresses are coming in as emails.

We tried to attach specific ring tones to sender addresses / contacts and played around with different profile settings. We realized that there seems to be a problem when the bb is in "sleep" mode - it does not ring. also when using the password lock button in the menu it does not ring.

Is there anyone who has a solution for this? It is rather critical that we get the ringing alarm. Maybe there is a 3rd party product that can give such a functionality in a reliable way.
    Thanks for your help.

It has little to do with "sleep mode".

The fact is, if the user switches the Sound Profile to say, Vibrate Mode, or Silent All, then no notifications are going to sound off (unless you go in and edit the Sound Profile and tweak it as such.)

Instead of email, you should send them a PIN message (no, not a BBM). To my knowledge, BB's will always sound off an alert regardless of the Sound Profile selected, but I could be wrong.
