    Which one and why?

    Thanks

Well here is the list of differences
    Screen-
    9900: 2.8" 640x480px 287PPI 24bit
    9790: 2.45" 480x360px 246PPI 24bit
    CPU-
    9900: 1.2 GHz Qualcomm
    9790: 1 GHz Marvel Tavor
    RAM- same for both
    Camera-
9900: 5MP EDOF 4x digital zoom 720p HD video recording, 0 shutter lag
9790: 5MP continuous autofocus 2x digital zoom VGA (640x480) video recording
    Antennas+Sensors- same for both
Battery- Theoretically longer on the 9900 (according to RIM)
    Wireless connectivity-
    14.4Mbps on 9900
    7.2Mbps on 9790
    Size-
9900 is wider but thinner (which means bigger keyboard)
    9790 is smaller

Verdict: the 9900 is still the king blackberry with all of the upgraded premium features you would expect from a king, but if you don't mind giving up some speed and beauty for versatility, the 9790 may be the phone for you

Your Verdict is certainly from someone who hasn't used either device for an extended period of time

I have BOTH the 9900 and the 9790

Both Running 7.1, I'd say I get from 12-18 hours out of the 9900, with OS7.0 I would fight to get 8-10 hours, so 7.1 is a drastic improvement, with the 9790 I am seeing a more consistent 18-24 hours,

There is not noticeable speed difference between the 2 devices,
The build quality and materials of the 9900 are Superior,

I have both the 9900 and the 9790

I WISH the 9790 had the same materials as the 9900, if it did I would rate the 9790 as the best BlackBerry, I prefer using it over the 9900 and it lasts longer on a charge.
but the screen is easier to scratch, and the body doesn't feel as firm.
Really you need to hold both to decide

I notice no productivity difference between the 2, I like the compact size of the 9790 over the 9900, but the build quality, Materials and the screen are nicer on the 9900

I suspect you can get the 9790 for cheaper, so if you can't make the choice by touching the devices, save the money get the 9790, and put your left over money in the bank earmarked towards a BB10 device

I used 9900 and yes it has quite different price with 9790, not much on the system, it just felt nice when u hold it, the material used on 9900 is quite good, and the keyboard is yhe best ive ever felt for blackberry device, the wide and the soft type, yet doesnt look cheap. However as for the battery life, its quite dissapointing, 9790 has better standby time, as it has smaller screen size, it does affect by bit.
