    Hi,

    My dad has just bought the above Curve. He isnt on a contract, hes on pay as you go without the blackberry internet service. He also hasnt got free internet as part of his SIM.

    So the first thing i did when turning on his blackberry was turn off Data Services under the Mobile Network Settings otherwise he will constantly be charged for internet usage.

    First of all is the above right?

    If so, to connect to his router it only works when the Data Services is turned on...? but he will get charged?

    How can he use his wireless router and go on the internet on his blackberry but not get charged from his network provider?

    Help appreciated.

    Data has to be enabled of Wi-Fi won't work.

    The device does not have the service books required for most of the interactions so he should be ok. Just make sure:

    - Browser is set to hotspot;
    - No apps that need BIS/Carrier network are installed
    - Set apps to run using Wi-Fi only

    Calling your carrier and asking to block data might also be a wise option.

    Or... since I see you're in the UK, he can probably get BIS for 5 on PAYG.
