Well with the announcement of today's news, BlackBerry will focus on enterprise solutions and pro-consumer. It appears Z30 will be the last consumer device from BlackBerry.

What's your thoughts on CrackBerry? Will the consumers disappear from the forums? Will you stay with CrackBerry even as you move to another consumer smartphone when you upgrade?

I'll stay with CB, as I will continue using my device till it stops functioning.
I like these forums and the bond that there sometimes is and even if I will switch to another platform in the future, I'll still be visiting CB cause I just love the site and the members.

Just out of curiosity, and being relatively uninformed, is there a chance the Z30 doesn't make it to market in Canada? As in, if the brand succumbs or is bought out. I've been unable to upgrade to the Z10 due to ridiculous Rogers contract terms, I'm just hoping that when it does end (when the Z30 is expected to role out) I can pick up the Z30. Even if it is the last consumer Blackberry I ever buy

I see little reason to believe it will not be possible for any of us to still buy future devices based on today's statement.

These threads serve no purpose, frankly, yet someone always has to make one...or two any and every time bad news comes.

I can't see BlackBerry stopping anyone that would like to buy a device.

You know what's interesting is that the homeland has been among those whom have been criticizing Blackberry among the most (in terms of in the media). At least, it seems that way.

I'll fit right in, in the "prosumer" market. My phone is all about business and communication, always has been, and will be until I die or retire. (The way things are going, they're both probably one and the same date!) Anyway, I've been on a BB since the early 1990's (yes, I'm that old), and it is still the best phone for messaging and business use. I have both a Z and a Q, and if the company exists in a few years, I'll buy a new device from them. Plain and simple, for business purposes, BB can't be beat.

I don't get how you see the Z30 as the "last" consumer BlackBerry. They said they'd focus on 4 lines instead of 6, not drop all lines entirely.

I feel the same way. All this news is saying is that they aren't going to go toe to toe with Apple or Samsung anytime soon. We will still have devices available to us.

Yes, but they also conceded defeat in the consumer market. They stated that they are going to focus on the enterprise industry, and the pro-sumer market. Pro-sumer basically equates to... Thanks for attempting to make us your daily driver, but don't criticise when we don't have consumer apps/features.

Exactly. If I could ever find their definition of prosumer I think I might be one! But that doesn't mean I don't like some toys to play with from time to time. Which means that if the app ecosystem is even worse than it is now for the major apps, I likely won't go with BB again.

Pro-sumer means a BlackBerry World with fewer fart apps and no Candy Crush, among other "must have" apps. Maybe we will see more casino apps for all the high rollers. I guess we'll see.

As for CrackBerry, I plan to stick around. Who knows, perhaps we'll see fewer trolls, paid or otherwise, and a much less negative attitude around here. Though I must say it can be quite entertaining reading all the back and forth that can happen at times. So I say to those trolls, nice job, mission accomplished and bon voyage. If you leave I for one will miss you.
