This might be a dumb question but is a BlackBerry 10 any more secure than a BlackBerry os7?

Yes it is and there are many other threads here with the same topic, there was no need to start another.

It's likely less secure, given that there's a lot more access and capabilities on a BB10 phone where an exploit can be made. BBOS phones, because they are more limited overall, have less points of entry.

One example: BB10 can run Android apps, and many/most people aren't even getting those apps from Google Play (where they are MOSTLY malware-free), but rather from third-party App stores such as 1Mobile, which contains tons of hacked and malware-ridden apps. Obviously, that's a vector for issues. But there are also browser issues. A few months ago, it was discovered that several web browsers, including BB's, uses an older, far less secure set of security than most modern browsers (for communicating with secure web sites). I'm sure they'll get it updated soon, but the current updated standard has been around since 2012, and Chrome, Firefox, IE, and the generic Android browser all use the updated version.

The problem with security, with ANY device, is that with such a complicated and powerful device that can do so many things, there are TONS of ways into it for hackers to discover, and while we hope that programmers are both learning and coding with due diligence, there will always be people who figure out some new way in that no one has ever though of before.
