I am getting a blackberry for Christmas, thanks to my wonderful parents, and I need to decide pronto which model I want.
I was leaning towards the Curve 8520 with its new, super-cool trackpad, and hey, I'm no business-woman, I'm a chemistry major , so I don't need the new bold.
I thought about the Curve 8900, but it has the trackball....which I've heard mixed reviews on. I need to decide within the hour! Thank you all!

Curve 8250, 8900....or other? for college student?

    Gracias!

Bold. Even though you think you don't need it. You wont need to upgrade for a decent amount of time.

I have the 8900 and would recommend it. The trackball has been no issue for me.

Well... I can tell you, after using the trackpad on my Bold 9700, I do not plan on using a trackball on another BlackBerry ever again. If you use your berry a lot like I do, your thumbs may start hurting after using the trackball for a long period of time (and for some people, it doesn't even take that long).

I would try the Bold 9700. Seems to have the best of both worlds... the trackpad of the 8520, but power over the 8900. The only difference would be the spacing of the keys in the 8520/8900 vs. 9700.

Try them all in the store.

I'd recommend 8900. Trackball = no issues with it at all.

I'm also a college student, and it works perfectly (though I don't know how it can be specific to college students, haha!).

85xx> Entry level berry. But can a college student afford the data plan?

9700. It has a trackpad and 3G, unlike the 8900. It is about the same size as the 8900.

8520 lacks 3G and GPS. 9700 has GPS.

The 9700 would be your best bet and it will come in handy at the right times.

Is money an issue? All providers now require a data plan with the use of smartphones.. since you're going to be paying for data.. I assume you have money, might as well go with the 9700.. it's the best one.

9700 is the perfect BB but if you don't want to spend that much money try the 8520.
