Hi Community,
Been in the back round for awhile, but I've came out of the closet now, my GF is getting me a new Blackberry� for Christmas because I am currently using an 9320 with half a screen working, but I know my way arond these wonderful devices so I can manage, a small drop broke the screen.
I am looking for one that will take a bit of a beating, not hot on touch screen at all but would take that if I had to, and it doesn't have to be new and older 3g model would be fine, also would like a nice stroller, aren't I demanding.
Anyway I am in Ireland, and if I never get a reply. Thanks for all the info, it helped a lot with fixing my BB's as I bashed them about over the years!
I want it to be a model that can have good security.

I dropped my 9900 off a man lift from 18' on the corner and it didn't even dent. I've tossed it around just to prove a point to iphone users that their phones can't do that. Oh and all i use is a hip holster so it's usually bare when the falls come. Pure 9900 strength

I'd advise you to get an otterbox case, or something like that. It makes the phone look better IMHO, and a lot tougher. I throw mine around a lot and there's not a single scratch on my 9360 or even on the case. It also made my phone easier to hold and type on.

I'm gonna say the blackberry torch 9800 as mine was beaten to death and worked perfectly (both the touch and physical keyboard). it looked dam ugly but worked as if it were brand new.

it was then taken for a swim in the sea in spain, and after realising It was in my pocket, I ran out.... drained the water water, took the battery out , allowed it to dry, and it worked perfectly still.... its in use today ....

if thats not strong/durable.... I don't know what is tbh....

I definetely won't be treating my l-series like that, that's for sure!

The 9700/9780 are the best to get an otterbox defender case for as it comes with a keyboard silicone skin.

i once dropped my 9860 from about shoulder hight on an asphalt road. it was completely bare; it landed on it's top right corner, the type of hit that would disintegrate an iphone...
and it bounced. total damage: a 2x1mm chip in the paint and possibly a dent in the road :P

i have no problem tossing my BB around in front of iphone users... though not nyone with a nokia.

I tried for an entire year to kill my 9650. When the 9930s were distributed at work I was a year off from upgrade, and I kept trying to have my 9650 meet with an unfortunate "accident" so I could get one before my upgrade.
Nothing.
I spilled water, coffee, soda on it....nothing. Dropped it, nothing.

Id have to say the 9900. That device is badass. I have a porshe design, a 9900 and a 9790. After a few month, my Porshe design screen is a little cracked, and my 9790 battery cover was broken when i dropped it once. my 9900 took so many beatings (incuding many drops w/o a case, and a flaming drink spilled al lover it). Is still looks and works as good as the first day. i just love that thing...

I have a 9320 that is the strongest BlackBerry I have used I thrown it to the ground hard, punched the screen (not to hard), dropped it, smashed it, threw it high in the air and let it drop and 101 more things and guess what it works fine everything works fine, not going to treat the L Series like that.

I always thought that the 83xx series was pretty tough. I have seen some in really rough condition that still work as new. 96/97xx are also pretty durable.

My torch 9800 fell out of my pocket on Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland... which is 230 feet tall at its highest. I called Wonderland when I got home and described my phone. The next week they found it. I went back and everything was fine except for the battery door was missing which was an easy fix.

I would say (without using it) the trackwheel models must have been durable. Hard thick platic. No trackball to get dirt in, no trackpad to randomly stop working.
