I had the VZ GPS and I HATE paying $2.99 every time I use it. I don't think it's worth it.
Do they really have a Pay Per Use GPS ?
It's $2.99 per 24 hour period or $9.99/monthly for unlimited use. The options of being able to subscribe to and cancel VZ Navigator is great for many people! Some only need it on occasional trips.
VZ Navigator is the best GPS app available that offers audible turn by turn direction. Garmin Mobile doesn't come close to VZ Navs features, options and functions.
Garmin Mobile is overpriced for what it does. The list of cons does not justify the $99 dollars. Keep in mind the license is also a one time, one device use. Meaning that when you upgrade your BlackBerry you will have to pay another $99 again.
Cons:
*Does not display miles to destination
*Does not display time to destination
*Does not display current road
*Doesn not display next step
*Does not integrate with BlackBerry Calender
*No way to repeat audible direction
*Cannot share locations, addresses, directions
*Does not offer detours around traffic
*Cannot transfer to new device
*No Jump To in Favorites
*No Trip Summery Option
*No Trip Preview (Plan Trip) option
* Does not display GPS Coordinates
*Must exit app to view Trip List

I like Telmap Navigator. It has accurate maps, turn-by-turn navigation, and most important for me works in Australia!

Noticed that Nav4All was recently shut down by Nokia (do a google search for "the first mobile phone navigation war") and amAze is no longer free. So this brings me back to the question about the best free app. So far it appears as though Google Maps and BB Maps are the best in terms of mapping a location and/or GPS location, but of course no turn-by-turn directions. Tried WisePilot, but turns out it's a 14-day trial (conveniently not disclosed on their website). WisePilot may be the best in terms of voice navigation, though. Never figured out how much it costs, as I uninstalled it in frustration.
You can try Life In Pocket, it's an interesting application. Depending on your needs it may suit you.
Team Crackberry has posted a review of Garmin, you can pay a one time fee and be done with the monthly payments, I believe you can get a trial.
Some of the enhancements to Telenav sound interesting, I'm sure VZNAV will use some of those ideas in an upcoming release, I realize you are on AT&T.
