I like to be able to dial a phone number from anywhere on the device. But, I also like the idea of having shortcut keys (L = calendar, D = Memo pad, etc)...

So, how can one live in 'both' worlds?

mmm, i used to feel like that too but for me the convenience keys are just so nice to have - esp when you're rushing & etc.

i wish there was a way for both to be used.. but i don't think there is!

There is!

Open up your phone app and push the menu key. Scroll down to View Speed Dial List. Click a letter and then click New Speed Dial. Your address book should pop up. Assign a number to a letter on the keyboard and exit.

Now back at your home screen push and hold that letter key>>> speed dial!
