Bell, Telus to charge for incoming text messages

Not to worry if you have some sort of plan that includes text messages. This mostly affects pay-as-you-go customers.
which i am for texts as i do virtually everything though data so it's never been worth a text plan for me ntil now perhaps.... even if i get pinged by a text i'll respond over data whenever i can.
something about them getting money from both ends just is so pear-shaped to me. they must have hired a real estate agent in marketing or something.
Ahhh...dut do we know this for sure? Does anyone really know if Bell and Telus will honour their "unlimited text message" plans when this kicks in or will they try and claim the unlimited text messages was for outgoing, and the incoming ones are something totally new and screw us yet again!!??
from the source article:
GASP... For once Rogers is the one NOT ripping people off.Bell and Telus customers can avoid the charge by switching to Rogers, which says it has no plans to institute a fee to receive a text message.
Does this mean HE-LL is starting to freeze over? LOL
It might be a good time to consider another alternative, mobile chat could be the alternative for SMS, giving that the cheap data services offered now by the wireless service providers. WeBuzz website offers mobile chat service for free. I've tried and it works fine
If you have a plan you're safe. This whole thing really doesn't affect all that many people. Those who do a lot of texting usually are already on some sort of package anyway, so it's business as usual for them. Just the media blowing things out of proportion in light of the iPhone/Rogers situation.
T-Mobile has charged for both outgoing and incoming text messages for years unless you buy a specific messaging plan. The rate is currently $0.15 per message but is going up to $0.20 on August 29. My sons both purchased the $4.99 for 400 message plans when I refused to continue paying their text charges (I'm a mean old dad).
I've only had my BB for a week, so I honestly don't know if the BB data plan also includes text messaging. I had one of my sons text me just to see if it appears on the bill next month.
