    Hi guys,

I sold one of my Z30's to a friend of mine who is on the Bell network like me. The Z30's is fully unlocked but will not connect to the data service on Bell. The Z30 is asking for APN info?

Bell refuses to change the setting on their network to allow the phone to connect to the network. They say the plan has to be changed to a BlackBerry plan....BS I say!! My mates plan is a 6gb data for $65.00 a month... of course they are trying to force him out of that plan which he is not going to do.

How do we input the APN data to allow him to connect to the Bell data network.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ben

PS: did a search on this but really did not find a way to get around this issue.

I'm on bell and just checked my apn info. What you do is go into mobile network settings, then you select apn at the bottom and the apn is blackberry.net

Yes it's says exactly the same as yours but still asks for the correct APM info.

Talk to another rep or manager if needed. They just want your friend to give up his awesome plan. You don't need a "BlackBerry plan" with BB10 devices, that's just BS and I'm sure they know it.

I agree with webber27 talk to another rep the only reason I stick to a blackberry plan is cause I switch between my z10 and torch 9810 for work so I still need that blackberry plan

Okay it appears that we fixed this issue by putting in the following data instead of blackberry.net you input pda.bell.ca. This works 100% now. YES. F Bell Canada!!

Yeah! Bell still forces their client to get a BIS plan for Blackberrys... but you can easily circumvent this by changing the APN. It seems you had found the proper apn setting!

You are totally correct Bob. My buddy is so stoked now. Yet another reason why BlackBerry is still persecuted by the carriers. This was such a simple solution that Bell tech support did not want to divulge. SMH.

The funny thing is that people with an iPhone or Android device on Bell and pop the sim card into a BlackBerry 10 device, it will work

It should be something along the lines of

    pda.bell.ca

Use at own risk, could cause excessive data usage (used to), but if going from non BlackBerry device to blackberry, that is usually the APN that works with out switching data plan

    Use inet.bell.ca
This works on bell with my z30. You have to type it in, it doesn't default

I'm on bell also I checked under settings, about, sim. under service alias is says "BIS2GB" it is a newer plan from a few months ago. Looks like bell keeps all BlackBerry devices under a BIS designation.

    My APN says BlackBerry.net

My apn said blackberry.net and did not work for my z30. The only change that I made was to change the apn to inet.bell.ca, now it works...

That's because you do not have a BIS plan with Bell.

I don't know why Bell keep things so complicated, there is no difference, to my knowledge, between them
