Its by far the best mobile instant messaging platform ever created. I'd say a lot more than 2 million personally. Even the BB haters will wait (im)patiently in line to get their hands on it. :) Ill go on the record with 5 million.
I think @BBM tweeted for the next 5million to register so I call 20M in 24 hours

downloads dont matter in such a short space of time. its all about continued growth and the people who download continuing to use it.
if i had a million downloads and 999,999 uninstalls then it sounds like a wicked download figure but in reality its nothing.
This is about the long tail of the app, not just being a flash in the pan.

Then again, sheer downloads will help BBM for advertising...
