Does anybody know why BB10 doesn't have the ability to run themes and in turn what else would be affected by the lack of this ability when compared to Android or jailbroken iphones?

As a past theme developer and them junkie, this is one of the things I really miss. One day I hope we have some sort of customization available.
But for now, yes Scrid's ZTheme is by far the best option right now to spice up the "home screen".

Yes. Like Scrid said the tools to integrate into the OS are not available. Don't know if BlackBerry is planning on it or not. When the killed TB7, the also had said that BB10 would not get themes either. Hopefully they change this.

I'm the first to agree that Z Theme doesn't offer near the customization I want, but it's as good as can be done on the Z until BlackBerry decides to allow true OS theming, or someone roots the Z.

Not sure about themes on the new BlackBerry 10, though I had a lot of fun with them back in BlackBerry 6.x. One thing I'd like to point out is having an shortcut or a single button to hide all icons leaving the wallpaper clean as a whistle would be orgasmic.

You can download apps for it, but there are no "Themes". You can pretty much only change the background like any other phone.

Are some great animated screen savers tho that add a little excitement to your phone. We are using them now from Shao. Go to app world and look for ultimate screen saver.
