Anybody know if any new bb10 phones planned? Disappointed all venice mentions use android. I have a passport and won't be getting venice unless bb10 phone, when it gets specced out will sadly have to switch back to ios, praying by then it will have a blackberry hub app, blackberry please come out with some bb10 sliders, I think there has to be a niche audience that would pay a hefty premium for bb10. I have to manage like ten email accounts for my work, there is no better OS than bb10 for this, posting here because I know blackberry reads these forums,

Hopefully BlackBerry sells millions of devices sporting Android OS enough to finance and produce limited BB10 devices for us diehards! Could that be a solution? Chen always said he would try his best to keep hardware business going and profitable but never heard him with what OS!!!

in my opinion there's only to wait few months more for the BlackBerry 10 version of the Venice.

All BlackBerry is committed to the Android version of Venice.

There they will release bb10 for it needs some tweaks more.

I would think you would want to maximize profit and offer it in both operating systems.

Especially to show faith in the operating system "your" company designed. "Especially", if you're saying that your Vision is to be a leader in Business Software, and you can't stand behind the software you released just a few years ago.

    Not a good look.

How useful do you think BB10 would be to most people after having to remove the Android Runtime? Probably not very.

That's part of the problem. There are no BB10 profits. Only loss.

If BB10 had any chance, they wouldn't be offering Android. Company doesn't have resources to support two OS. BB10 loses money. If Android is successful, they don't need BB10. If Android unsuccessful, they will exit hardware. They will only keep BB10 devices and OS around like BBOS7 was as long as generating profits from service revenue. Since BB10 doesn't generate BIS type revenue, it doesn't keep value to justify support.

It's absolutely compatible with BB10. Hell, the iphone is probably compatible with BB10. You just need a CPU and some RAM. But good luck buying one with it installed.

How is it losing money when the phones with it form 40% of revenue?

We have seen a Passport run Android, hence the assumption of compatibility.

Dunno. If that's true why are they changing to Android? Maybe because they don't sell enough of them.

You run a lemonade stand, and sell it for 50 cents a cup. Maybe you sell 1000 cups a day, and you've made $500 in revenue. Great job, right?

But what if your costs for the lemonade, including cups, ice, transportation to the store, advertising, etc. end up being 60 cents a cup? You made $500 in revenue in one day, but your operating costs for that day were $600 - in other words, after working all day selling 1000 cups of lemonade, you realize a loss of $100.

That's the situation BB is in. The costs of designing, manufacturing, researching, marketing, distributing, and servicing BB10 phones is higher than the profit they get from the sales of those phones, and has been since Day 1 - BB10 has never made a profit. And as the sales of BB10 phones has dropped, as they've done almost every quarter (and the trend continues to go down), the loss-per-phone increases, because the relatively fixed costs of design, research, and software development have to be spread across fewer and fewer sold phones.

I read only to the "lemonade stand". If you think I am that dumb, then there is no way we can have a decent conversation, Debbie Downer. I mean, Troy Tiscareno.

I sure would miss the hub, but have to have an open mind.

They will never attract IOS users. Most have all their devices synced. (computer, phone, watch, etc). At this point they are locked in and I really don't blame them. (This applies to most of my family and friends).

I think many Android users are more open minded as they might have an android phone, iPad, and PC. Like I have a Z30, iPad and PC. I don't have anything Android yet, but my few friends with Notes are happy.

Technology changes so fast these days it's hard to get stuck on one thing!!
